In a remarkable turn of events, 48-year-old farmer Murali from Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district has achieved unprecedented success, earning an astounding Rs 4 crore in just over a month from his tomato crop. This incredible achievement comes in stark contrast to the days when his family celebrated a meager sum of Rs 50,000 from tomato sales, a cherished amount that they once worshipped.
Murali's journey to prosperity has been fraught with difficulties and setbacks. The previous year, Murali's family experienced significant losses as tomato prices drastically dropped, resulting in an overwhelming debt of Rs 1.5 crore. However, with a fortunate combination of enhanced power supply, excellent crop quality, and favorable prices, he managed to make a complete turnaround in his fortunes.
In the past, Murali had to travel over 130 km to Kolar to secure better rates for his tomatoes at the APMC yard. This year, his dedication and hard work paid off as he accomplished an impressive 35 successful harvests, with the possibility of 15-20 more to come. Even after clearing his debts, he has managed to accumulate an astonishing Rs 2 crore in just 45 days.
